Announcing FESA’s Participation in Birdies for Kids 2021

Kraig Brachman

The Further Education Society of Alberta (FESA) has once again been included in the list of Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink (BFK) participating charities. Since 2013, BFK has been providing matching donations, media attention, and opportunities for local Alberta youth charities to connect with a larger audience.

Between February 1 and August 15, 2021, all donations raised by participating charities, like FESA, will be matched up to 50%. In 2020, despite not being able to come together physically for the tournament due to COVID-19, $10.6 million was raised through Shaw Birdies for Kids Presented by AltaLink for a total 2020 charitable contribution of $12.5 million and $61 million since 2013.

As of today, you can make an online matching donation of up to 50% to FESA at https://shawcharityclassic.com/donatenow. The Individual charity donation pages will be available soon, before March 1.

Not only will direct donations be matched, but all donations raised by the Cover Your FESA Fundraiser and donations raised as part of the 25th Anniversary of the Further Education Society of Alberta.

Everyone at FESA is excited to be participating charity in Birdies for Kids again and are working hard to provide our learners essential programs online, learning kits, and masks to help keep everyone safe during the ongoing global health crisis. Head to our Cover Your FESA for more information on the Cover Your FESA Fundraiser.

Land Acknowledgement

FESA acknowledges that the land upon which we work and call home is on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney), the Otipemisiwak Métis Government (Districts 4, 5, and 6), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

We are grateful to work on the territory that situates Calgary, which is known as Mohkinstsis by the Blackfoot, Guts’ists’i by Tsuut’ina, and Wîchîspa by the Îyâxe Nakoda, as we endeavor to build a more literate and learning society allowing all to reach their potential.
