FESA Reading & Writing Program at WINS

Kraig Brachman

At the WINS Beltline Community Resource Hub, we are delivering an ESL Reading and Writing Program. WINS is a long time program partner with the Further Education society of Alberta, offering a variety of our program throughout Calgary over many years.

Our ESL Reading and Writing Program is aimed at learners wishing to improve their English reading, writing, or conversational skills. This is done by coming together as a group and working on things like vowel groups, words describing essential concepts like community make-up and body anatomy, and group work to create an environment that encourages verbal communication without the stress of needing to perfectly communicate.

WINS has been working with a lot of Ukrainian refugees and expressed to FESA the group's need for an ESL Reading and Writing Program, but it's open to everyone in the community as well. The group is extremely dedicated to their learning, and the program is schedule to continue throughout the rest of the summer and into the fall. But dedicated doesn't mean too serious, as there was a lot of laughter happening alongside the learning!

If you would like to learn more about the WINS Beltline ESL Reading and Writing Program, say maybe come and join the group, then you should contact Beibei Lu, FESA's Interim Program Manager at blu@furthered.ca, or you can contact WINS at (403) 255-5102.
