Kopila: 2020 Winner of the Outstanding Learner Award

FESA Staff

Kopila joined our online Stress Management Program which was introduced during COVID-19.

“COVID-19 started spreading in Calgary, Alberta, from March 2020. Since then, life has changed dramatically for all of us. Schools were moved online, people started working online, businesses closed, and people lost jobs. I was one of them who lost a job because of the business closure. Our kids started learning online from home, and my husband worked from home as well.

It was a very stressful situation, and I was very anxious about the future. At the same time, I was looking for opportunities to improve myself and cope with the changes. Fortunately, I got connected with FESA. There were some virtual classes to help people dealing with different situations. I attended the Stress Management Online Workshop.

It helped me to deal with the situation and lower my stress level. I enjoyed the sessions on how to deal with money management during this situation and showed interest in career development sessions. I was offered training on resume writing which was very informative and useful.” I am glad to know that Further Education Society is offering need-based support to people. Such programs not only help to enhance people’s careers, but they can make a meaningful contribution to the community as well.” — Kopila

"Kopila was one of the most attentive and enthusiastic learners I have had online. She asked lots of questions and was always so engaged in what we were talking about. It was a pleasure to work her and help her learn.’ — Del Edwards, Facilitator
