Outside of the House Reading Options

Kraig Brachman

We all love our personal spaces—it has our favourite stuff! Books, blankets, couches, pillows, all the things you and your kids need to snuggle up and do some reading. But maybe you're feeling cooped up in the house, you want to feel the sun's warmth on your skin, or a cool breeze tickle your cheek. Here's the thing, you can!

Grab some of your kid's books, a nice sittin' blanket, and take the kids out to some new exciting places.

Parks and Green Spaces

Whether you are planning a picnic or just planning on sitting under a near shady tree, or you could bring an umbrella and create your own shaded space, Calgary has tons of green spaces that can get you out of the house, away from the street noise, and still outside and surrounding yourself by trees.

Things to bring you on your outdoor reading:

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug spray

  • A hat

  • Water

  • A book

  • Blanket

  • (optional) An Umbrella

  • (optional) A lawn chair

Some of Calgary's amazing parks/green spaces:

And that's just 5 of them; there are over 70 official parks in Calgary. See which is the closest to you and get outside and do some reading: https://www.calgary.ca/parks/locations.html
